Kess Energy, a forward-looking junior lithium miner based in Brasília, is calling on Brazil’s government to take bold action to match the recent strides made by Bolivia in advancing its lithium industry. The statement comes in response to Bolivia's $1 billion partnership with China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CBC) to develop two state-of-the-art direct lithium extraction (DLE) plants.
The deal positions Bolivia as a key player in the global lithium supply chain, utilizing cutting-edge DLE technology to maximize resource efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Kess Energy believes Brazil, with its vast lithium reserves, has the potential to achieve similar success by embracing strategic international partnerships and investing in advanced extraction technologies.
"Brazil must act decisively if it wants to lead in the global energy transition," said Inato Ramirez, CEO of Kess Energy. "Bolivia's partnership with CBC is a game-changer, proving that strategic investments in technology and infrastructure can unlock the true potential of a nation’s lithium reserves. We urge the Brazilian government to take similar steps to ensure our country remains competitive in the lithium revolution."
Brazil is already home to significant lithium deposits, particularly in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, which are integral to the global supply chain for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. However, without decisive action, the country risks falling behind its neighbors and competitors in the rapidly evolving lithium market.
"Bolivia has demonstrated vision and leadership by securing this $1 billion commitment to advanced lithium extraction," added Mr. Ramirez. "By emulating this approach, Brazil can attract the global investment and expertise needed to cement its place as a lithium powerhouse."
